GENERAL POKER STRATEGY - COMFORT LEVEL
Almost all players have a comfort level of play. There may, of course, be an exception to this rule among the few players in the world that can play in the biggest games and do not feel uncomfortable in pushing in a million or two on an outright bluff, Gus Hansen is a good example of this.
But for most of us we have a limit of what is comfortable to play. Beyond this limit we change our play because we are no longer comfortable with the size of the bets. For some players this can come moving from Limit to No Limit. For others it can be moving from 10/20 to 40/80 or 100/200.
Whatever level makes you uncomfortable, pay attention to your discomfort level, and if it changes your game for the worse, maybe you should consider moving down a level and work you way up gradually. I have a friend, Lucky Lowell, who as a pro generally wins, but last year he endured a losing streak through most of the year. He finally decided to drop down several levels till he regained his confidence and comfort level. He recouped most of his losses and is once again winning.
Just make sure you are playing your best poker at whatever level you choose to play; and, if you are not winning and having fun playing poker, maybe you are playing at the wrong level and should consider changing levels.
Something to think about.
