POKER STRATEGY AND LESSONS - Simple Pot Odds Spreadsheet Calculator

Do you need to calculate Poker Odds on the fly, but have trouble figuring out all of those poker numbers in your head? I have created an Excel spreadsheet which will do the difficult Pot Odds calculations for you assuming you know the number of unknown cards left in the deck and the amount of the bet you have to pay to stay in the poker hand.

This calculator works well for any poker game type. For calculating pot odds in Hold’em I usually just leave the number of cards ‘Left In Deck’ at 46.5 and all I have to do is enter the amount of the bet. This shows me the calculated chances within .5 of a percent for both the Turn and the River. If there is a $2 bet to you before the Turn, the Poker Odds table looks like this:

All I have to know now is my number of outs for the poker hand. In the case of a Flush draw I have nine outs. By looking at the 9 Outs row I can see I have a 19.35% (or 1 in 5.17) chance of getting what I need on the next card and the pot amount should be more than $10.33 for me to consider calling the bet.

Calculating Pot Odds gets a lot more complicated when you are playing a game like Seven Card Stud. The number of cards left in the deck is continuously changing, and the number of outs you have fluctuates depending on the cards you have seen. I am able to do Poker Pot Odds calculation for Hold’em in my head, but when I started playing Seven Card Stud I designed this spreadsheet. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

For a more detailed explanation of Pot Odds for Hold’em, see my more complete Pot Odds lesson specifically regarding that game on the lessons page here Poker Lessons
